The Kondaveedu Fort in Andhra Pradesh has turned into a tourist hotspot in recent times, and is one of the most favourite places to visit in Andhra Pradesh. The rush of tourists is causing roadblocks here on weekends, and the tourist demography is mostly made of young people.
The fort is set amidst nature, and provides a solace to get away from the city’s rush. It was built in the 14th century, and is located right in the heart of a reserve forest. The original fort is yet to be accessed, as the work for completion of the road is still in progress. As of now, people visiting the place are mostly interested in reaching the top of the hill, and enjoying the serenity of the place. Because this place is a thick forested area, it is usually cooler here than in the city.
As of now, even though there aren’t official provisions made for refreshments, vendors are coming in to sell water, food, and other items.
The fort went from ruler to ruler, and eventually was under the control of Vijaynagar kings, Gajapatis, Golkonda sultans, and then the French, and British. The fort is located at a height of 1050 ft, and is one of the strongest in the region that withstood the test of time. You can also see an embankment on the way to the fort, which used to work as a security ring to protect the family, and the houses inside the fort. The fort is located in Kondaveedu village.
