As evident from its name itself, the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary can prove to be a paradise for every birder. Situated along the beautiful backwaters of Kumarakom, a part of the beautiful Vembanad Lake is connected to this sanctuary. Canoeing within the calm waters of the sanctuary can bring travellers in closest encounters with most amazing avifaunal species of the region. Adding to their population is the huge presence of migratory birds that travel to this sanctuary from different parts of the world and make it their home for a few months. While the best time to visit this place is between June and August, some of the bird species one just can’t miss out on include the Siberian Stork and the Kingfisher among many others.
