Khao Lak

Khao Lak is a mere 80 kilometres from Phuket and is the ideal escape given the private island vibe it emanates, but is actually quite a big name in the Thai tourism industry. Like most other beach destinations in Thailand, the sands here are soft and pearly white and walking on them is a lot like walking on a bed of roses. The lush forests on the other side of the retreat have this dream-like quality to them and you wouldn’t mind being lost in these woodlands for days on end. Given the plethora of luxury resorts by giants like Ramada and JW Marriott that call Khao Lak home, a memorable and romantic stay is guaranteed.
There is a lot that you can do at Khao Lak. Head over to La On Village to shop for trinkets, gorge on delicious seafood and party the night away. The Bang Niang Beach is an equally lively address and is probably one of the most developed areas of the island. Your quest for peace, however, will end at the Khao Lak Beach as it is a lot less touristy. If you have more time in hand, take a short excursion to the divine Similan Islands that are popular scuba diving spots because of the abundance of pretty corals and tropical fishes. The Phang Nga Bay and Khao Sok National Park aren’t too far either.
