Kaziranga National Park was also declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. It is one of the most important sanctuaries for Bengal tigers in India, especially in northeastern India. Kaziranga is also home to the highly rare ‘golden tiger.’ This rarity may have been the result of genetic mutation, but it is believed that there is only one in the country, and it is in Kaziranga National Park.
