Gandhiji stayed at Anasakti Ashram for 2 weeks. It is also known by the name Gandhi Ashram and is just 1 km away from the main town. It is basically a simple cottage engrossed with the teachings of the Mahatma. A part of this ashram offers accommodation too. The Tea Estate and factory is only 3 km away from Kausani towards Baijnath. The tea produced here is exported to many countries, including Australia, Germany, Korea and the US. Rudhradhari Falls and caves lie about 20 km away, and can be reached after a moderate hike of 1-2 km. Burha Pinnath, located about 5.5 km away from Kausani, is an ancient miniature Shiva temple on a hill top. The trail to Burha Pinnath passes through thick forest. Bears and leopards can be sighted on this trek. So you need to be careful and avoid this trail in the dark.
