The Chinese community in Kolkata is getting ready to celebrate the Chinese New Year, and it is an event that you should definitely visit. Chinese New Year in Kolkata will be celebrated on Friday 16, 2018, welcoming the Year of the Dog, and bidding farewell to the Year of the Rooster. The Chinese families living in Kolkata’s China Town begin the day by cleaning their homes, as a gesture to ward off evil. You can experience it all if you head to Chatawala Gali, Lu Hsien Sarani, and Tiretti Bazaar, where carnivals will enthral your senses. You will find yourself immersed in colours as the neighbourhoods are draped in red and gold. You can also attend the two-day fete that is being held at Pei Moi School on February 18 and 19. Here guests will find themselves amidst a variety of homemade Chinese food, which includes momos, siu mais, and baos. There is even a lucky draw!

Do not miss out on the dragon dance, which is an integral part of the Chinese culture, and is considered auspicious. The dragon dance is done by professional performers who wear costumes and put on a fascinating performance.
