In the beginning of June, a number of Caribbean islands opened their borders and welcomed tourists, months after the COVID-19 pandemic began. Now, after the US Virgin Islands and St. Lucia, Jamaica is all set to welcome travellers again from June 15. In fact, American Airlines is also resuming their Caribbean routes.
As of now, Jamaica’s (a Caribbean island nation) top priority is the health and safety of the tourists both domestic and international. The country is planning to do temperature screening, and provide PPE kits for tourism workers, along with using the latest technologies to make sure visitors are screened throughout their visit. Also, the government is working on a plan to ensure the safety of people along with providing them authentic Jamaican travel experiences.
On the other hand, restaurants in Jamaica have been asked to reduce their seating capacity to 70 per cent to maintain social distancing. When it comes to maintaining safety and social distancing on beaches and near pools, umbrellas and chairs have to be kept six feet apart from one another. Also, to make sure people are following the rules, there will be a physical distancing officer patrolling the beaches.
