Is Arutas is located on the east coast of Sardinia, not far from the city of Oristano. It is a gorgeous beach of tiny quartz pebbles, with a strip of turquoise water that becomes incredibly blue when it gets deeper. The beach is pristine and rather isolated, and there are rock formations on the sides which are nice to climb, in order to get a panoramic view of the beach. There are a couple of kiosks that prepare good seafood dishes, as well as light meals and drinks. Since the sand at Is Aruttas is quite unique, it is strictly protected and attempts to steal it are punished with high fines. It does get crowded on holidays.
