Airports at Bengaluru and Delhi among top 10 fastest growing airports in the world

Two Indian airports have made it to the list of top 10 fastest growing airports in the world between January 2018 and June 2018. The Bengaluru airport secured the second spot in the list while the Delhi airport ranked sixth.
As per the study conducted, the Kempegowda International Airport at Bengaluru has recorded 1,58,50,352 passengers in the first half (January to June) of 2018. The number has gone up by 41,80,852 passengers against the same period last year in 2017.

On the other hand, Delhi has the record figure of 3,49,05,629 passengers in H1 or the first half of the year in 2018. The number this year has increased by 32,76,183 passengers as compared to last year’s number for the same period.
The report also mentioned that the airports in India and China have secured the top places in the list which only highlights the “growing dominance of the countries as aviation powerhouses”. Interestingly, Tokyo's Haneda Airport topped the chart with 4,32,88,558 passengers in the first half of 2018. The number has gone up by whooping 4.3 million passengers from January to June last year 2017.

Jakarta, Chicago and Madrid secured third, fourth and fifth positions respectively in this list of the fastest growing airports in the world. Other airports that made it to the list are Dallas Fort Worth (7th), Los Angeles (8th), Frankfurt (9th) and Nanchang (10th).
