Heavy rains in Himachal trigger landslides; halt your travel plans for now

Most of the roads in Himachal Pradesh have been closed as incessant rains have triggered landslides, snapping various road links. Those planning a trip to the hill station during Independence Day might need to rethink as of now.
As per the reports from Weather Department, it has been forecasted that rain would continue in certain parts of the state till Independence Day. While Kangra received the highest rainfall, the Meteorological Department informed that the other regions affected by rainfall are Hamirpur, Palampur, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Bhuntar, Keylong and Sundernagar. Kalpa registered the lowest temperature at 13.4 degree celsius, Una was the hottest place in the state recording 34 degree celsius.

The Met department further stated that light to moderate rainfall is expected in many regions of the state on the eve of Independence Day. Most roads in the interiors of Himachal Pradesh remained closed on Monday, leaving hundreds of commuters and travellers stranded.
As par a news source, the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway 21 has been closed for vehicles near Mandi town, whereas the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway 5 was obstructed near Jabli town in Solan District. The source further stated that the road network in Kinnaur, Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts are the most affected, and efforts are underway to reopen them as soon as possible.
Due to the ongoing rain, all educational institutions and schools have been closed in regions like Shimla, Kullu, Solan, Kangra, Mandi and Harimpur.
