Vizag: Simhachalam museum to be opened soon

Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Vari Devasthanam has announced its plans to come up with a museum at Simhachalam in Visakhapatnam district. Reports suggest that the temple authorities will be inaugurating the place on February 5, 2020, on the eve of Bhishma Ekadasi.

While talking to the media, Simhachalam Devasthanam Executive Officer M. Venkateswara stated that all the ornaments and artefacts that were donated by Vijayanagara’s legendary ruler, Sri Krishna Devaraya and other kings of the state, will be showcased at the Simhachalam museum. Further, on the same day of inauguration, other services to the deity, including Tulabharam and Tulasidalarcharana, will also be initiated.
Situated in the city of Vishakhapatnam on the Simhachalam hill, this famous Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is known for its brilliant architectural style.

What is unique about this ancient Vaishnava shrine is its intricate architectural style, which has been influenced by several dynasties of the bygone eras. While the earliest inscription dates back to 1087 AD, you can also pore over inscriptions that detail the temple’s extensive renovation in the thirteenth century. The idol can be seen covered with sandalwood paste and represents both Varaha and Narasimha incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Also, as per records, Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple’s income is also pegged next to only the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh.
