The great Kiwi road trip is a popular choice for both visitors and locals alike. With gorgeous scenery and so many amazing sights along the way, a self-drive tour will allow you to make the most of your journey, Both campervans and rental cars are a cost effective option, especially if you’re travelling in a group. With the option pf sleeping up to six people, campervans can be ideal for a family of bunch of friends. When you’re weighing your options, check with your rental company about their depot locations, insurance policy, equipment and minimum hire periods. In New Zealand, you can legally drive for up to 12 months with either a driver’s license from your home country or an International Driving Permit. Commonly, you need to be 21 or older to rent a vehicle, but some companies also rent to younger people. Keep in mind that New Zealand follows a left-hand drive, so take things slow while you adjust to the change. If you’re driving a campervan, do some research on campgrounds where you can park at night.
