Kurukshetra, the town from where Lord Brahma created the universe as per Hindu legends, is a small place with vast historical and mythological importance. As per the legend, not only the war of Mahabharata was fought here but Lord Krishna delivered the sermons of Bhagavad Geeta and Brahma laid the Shiva’s first Lingam here. There are hundreds of temples in the city, and some of them are more than 5000 years old. It's also a home to countless saffron clad sages who can be seen meditating under a Banyan tree, inside an ancient temple or near a water body. Devotees believe that the sheer touch of Kurukshetra's air and water has the power to liberate a soul from its sins.
