After erupting for two weeks, the Hawaii volcano situation worsened as Kilauea continued to erupt violently. There are also warnings of toxic fumes, and according to the officials, lava flows have reached the Pacific, which is causing hazardous clouds called, laze.
The Kilauea volcano has even caused an injury, as a man also got hit by molten lava. It has also been reported that ash emissions have taken place at the Kilauea volcano’s summit. There is also the fear of methane gas explosions, as the lava reaches rotting vegetation and potentially producing flammable gas that is given off by the decay.
As of now, reports suggest that 44 homes and constructions have been destroyed in the Puna district. It has also been reported that almost 2000 people have been asked to leave their homes due to the toxic sulphur dioxide gas and lava flows.
The current volcanic eruption that Hawaii is experiencing is being called one of the worst events in a century. The Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and had previously erupted in 1955, lasting for 88 days.
