Desert camping, for this reason, does come under challenging outdoor activities.


Hot during the day and cold at night, that’s what desert camping entails. But if you can get past that, especially in popular Thar areas, like Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kutch, you will have some of the most memorable travel experiences.


The Thar Desert is one of the largest deserts in the world and offers opportunities for desert camping and exploration. These aforementioned destinations serve as gateways to the desert and offer a range of desert camping experiences.


Jaisalmer, in particular, is famous for its desert camping options. The Sam Sand Dunes, located about 45 kilometers from the city, are a popular spot for camping.


One can enjoy camel rides, cultural performances, and spend the night in traditional desert campsites, known as khims, or even go for the luxury desert resorts if your budget allows.


While the Rajasthan side of Thar is all about sand and dunes, the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat provides a unique camping experience. Rann of Kutch is all about white sand, and most part of it is salt marshes.


During the winter season, one must attend the Rann Festival to get the best of the ‘desert’ experience.
