The tourism ministry under the 'Swadesh Yojana' initiative has created a road map to establish two new tourism circuits in the Indian state of Bihar. Therefore, after Uttar Pradesh, Bihar is the next state that will get more tourist circuits to provide a boost to tourism in the state. According to news reports, one of the two tourist circuits in the pipeline has been named ‘Surya Circuit’. It will connect the sun temples in Bihar as they are a big tourist draw from the religious and tourism perspective. Reportedly, Kumar also said that one more tourism circuit has been planned to be developed in East and West districts of Champaran in Bihar I in order to link the religious sites from Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic cultures.
"Under the Centre's Swadesh Yojana, infrastructure and basic facilities will be developed at the tourist spots in the two new circuits. The state has famous sun temples at Deo, Shahabad, Badgaon and Nalanda which will be included in the proposed Surya Circuit," Pramod Kumar told the media.
In addition, he revealed that East and West districts of Champaran already have many places of religious significance having the potential to be transformed into tourist sites. These sites are namely—Shiv Mandir at Areraj, Naga Maaee Mandir at Baikunthdham, Kesaria Buddha Stupa, Janani Masjid, Badi Masjid and Sagar Pokhra.
