Located on the banks of Sharavati River, Sigandur temple draws devotees from all over the state. Sigandur can be reached from Mangalore but majority of devotees arrive from Sagara/Shivamogga, using a barge to cross Sharavati backwaters. Barge ride adds to your experience as it provides scenic view of the backwaters and forest around it. Barge service operates only till 5 pm every day. Vehicles can also be ferried on the barge but on festivals, people are given preference over vehicles. Belief goes that Sigandur Chowdeshwari can punish thieves mercilessly. Hence people who have lost their valuables often come to Sigandur to pray for recovery of lost items. Coins can be seen thrown into temple well by the devotees. Annual fair is held during Makara Sankranti (Jan 14 and 15th) every year.
