Great Wall of China's most popular section to now have a visitor cap

According to latest reports, the Great Wall of China’s Badaling section is set to get a visitor cap. The most popular part of the Great Wall of China, the Badaling section gets numerous local and international tourists at any time, and to ease the crowd, the authorities have decided to set a daily cap quota of 65,000 tourists, starting June1.
The Deputy Director of Badaling District Office said in a media statement that the Badaling section of the Great Wall of China received about 10 million visitors last year, and this means it received an average of 27,000 visitors per day. This number is obviously lower than the desired 65,000 tourists, but the real problem supposedly lies in the distribution of the number of tourists, which has been unbalanced up until now.
The number of visitors rise humongously during weekends and holidays. The maximum number of visitors recorded here on a day is 100,000 visitors, however the number on weekday averages around 10,000 per day.

There is also a new online ticketing system for visitors to book a visit, and you need to purchase the tickets under your own name, seven days prior to your visit. Visitors will also be notified of the congestion level at the Badaling system, and there will be some crowd controlling methods put in place. For 39,000 visitors in a day, the authorities will flag a yellow warning, orange warning for 52,000 visitors per day, and red warning for 65,000 visitors.
