The Indian Railways’ South Western Railway division will be running 12 trains between Bengaluru and Mysuru from now on. This means that there will be 12 eclectic locomotives, instead of diesel. The railway line between Bengaluru and Mysuru was recently made electric, and opened for use. By introducing electrification of the trains, the Indian Railways will eventually cut down on costs, and also save time. Most importantly, it is going to help reduce pollution.
This helps to improve punctuality. Also, as one can imagine this will reduce air pollution and also result in cost effectiveness for the Railways to save crores of rupees annually on fuel.
The second busiest route for the Southern Railway, Bengaluru-Mysuru has numerous express and superfast trains between them. The busiest route in the zone is the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai route. The seven trains that are going to run between Bengaluru and Mysuru are as follows –
16231 Mayiladuturai-Mysuru, 16024 Yeshwantpur-Mysuru, 16517/16523 KSR Bengaluru - Kannur/Karwar, 16232 Mysuru-Mayiladuturai, 16023 Mysuru-Yeshwantpur, 16217 Mysuru-Sainagar Shird,i and 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar - KSR Bengaluru.
All of these trains would now be taking under 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the journey.
