A pre-requisite for modern travel is the availability of internet so that you can post (read: show off) your travel stories online, whether on Instagram, Facebook, or any other social media platform. But when you are sitting at a quaint little cafe in Tuscany and hunting for internet, things can turn a little frustrating. However, you need not fret any longer because the Italian Government has rolled out free Wi-Fi service for everyone all across the country. This means you have the good fortune of using internet services for free from Milan to Amalfi.
The app is currently available for download on Google Play and also the Apple Store. The government has already launched it in Rome, Bari, Milan, Trento, Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. The connection as of now is rather slow in comparison to other European destinations, but the government is working to make sure the connections improve in the near future.
Italy is the latest country to join the group of countries with free Wi-Fi for public consumption. Lithuania is one such nation that reportedly provided 16.6 Mbps speed through its free Wi-Fi system. Other nations include Singapore, Switzerland and Denmark.
