In addition to all the temples and other places of worship, Dwarka also happens to have its share of forts and monuments. The Dwarka lighthouse is located three and a half kms away from the main town. This 43 meter tower was constructed in 1962 on the western most part of Saurashtra Coast called Rupen Creek. Later an RCC baffle wall was introduced in 1964 for the introduction of sound horns equipments and vibrators to work as fog signals. Even today this light house is a big landmark for sailors and one can clearly see its powerful flashes from Dwarka City in the evenings. Operational only from 4 pm to 6 pm for visitors, the splendid architectural design of this structure is a visual treat to eyes. From the top of the lighthouse, you can view a captivating, panoramic, 360-degree view of Dwarka City and the Arabian Sea.
