Visitors to the area are invited to stay and play in the charming mountain towns of Fernie, where they are treated to incredible dining, accommodations and a wealth of activities. Offering everything from white water rafting to cat skiing to championship golfing to world-class hiking to beautiful weather both in the winter and summer, this is truly a destination for anyone who loves the outdoors. The biggest challenge one has in this region is deciding what to do first. The town of Fernie itself also offers a wealth of mountain bike trails right in town, with more to come in the near future. Currently the most popular trails include the Mountain View Loop, a 7.6 km loop and the Great Northern Loop which is a 5.7 km trail. Just outside the town, there are close to 100 different trails, rated by difficulty in a beautifully color coded system, much like the ski hills rate their runs. It’s thanks to Fernie’s freestone rivers, clear lakes and incredible waters that make it such a hot spot destination for fly fishing and it is one of the most stunning and productive destinations in the world. With plenty of activities, dining options and accommodations, this is an easy choice for a weekend getaway.
