This initiative holds the potential to showcase Malawi's abundant wildlife, scenic landscapes, and the renowned waters of Lake Malawi to a broader international audience, contributing to the country's development and global recognition as a prime tourist destination.
"Our country's accessibility is one of the primary factors contributing to this issue, which is why we have introduced the visa waiver program," he explained.
The United States, United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, and members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are among the countries that will benefit from this exemption.
Tourism Minister Vera Kamtukule expressed that stringent visa requirements have been hindering the nation's potential in the tourism sector.
"Our aim is to attract investments in agriculture, tourism, and mining. By removing visa requirements for our main source markets worldwide, we are indicating that Malawi is ready for business," said ," Kamtukule.
Malawi is a natural home to a rich wildlife such as elephants, hippos, and crocodiles. It is situated partially along the shores of Lake Malawi, Africa's third-largest freshwater lake, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site.
