You can now use your Delhi Metro Smart Cards to pay for bus rides in Delhi. According to Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is making this a possibility, thereby, making it easier for daily commuters. The service is expected to commence from August 24, 2018.
According to the new rule, passengers will have to hand their smart cards to the bus conductor, who will swipe the card and that will deduct the fare.
The chips are being procured from South Korea, and the supplies took a little time to reach Delhi. By the month of May, 2,000 chips had arrived, and 3,000 more arrived recently.
The new ruling will make travelling in Delhi hassle free, and help travellers in great numbers. Kejriwal had flagged off 250 buses that accepted metro cards back in January this year.
