A peninsula framed by Pohutukawa trees and coastline, the Coromandel is a favourite destination for those who love sunshine and stunning beaches. Beaches here range from perfectly formed, secluded coves to long stretches of rolling waves and windswept coastline. You’ll find native Pohutukawa trees everywhere here, and during summers, they turn into a riot of colour when they bloom bright red flowers. Cathedral Cove Accessible only on foot or by boat, Cathedral Cove is home to a huge archway carved by the sea over thousands of years. Hot Water Beach
Just around the corner is Hot Water Beach, where natural mineral water bubbles up from deep within the earth. When the tide is right, beachgoers dig their own hot pool metres from the Pacific Ocean. Hahei
The beautiful Hahei beach is the perfect place for swimming and walking. Offshore islands provide a breakwater, creating a calm, tranquil beach that’s home to drifts of bright pink shells. These islands are home to caves and archways and form the boundaries of a marine reserve.
