This practice has, in an unique way, taught villagers to appreciate and understand the importance of both trees and girls. Reason why, just planting the saplings was not enough, as the family also had the responsibility to take care of the trees just like they did for their daughters.
Apart from this, at the time of the birth of a girl child, INR 10000 from the girl’s parents and INR 31000 from donors and Bhamashahs are collected and put in a fixed deposit (FD) account.
