Palazzi dei Rolli have also found a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. While the collection of palaces is a part of the historic city centre, we urge you to spend the better part of the day exploring them. The 42 palaces were designed and constructed between the 16th and 18th centuries, making them one of the first examples of urban planning in Europe. The most ornamental palaces are located on Via Lomellini, Via Balbi, and Via Garibaldi. It’s easy to spend hours admiring the Palazzo Rosso (Red Palace) and Doria Tursi. The walls of the palaces are a treat for connoisseurs of art and literature. They are bedecked with distinguished works of art by painters such as Caravaggio and Rubens.
