Ladakh Festival is probably one of the most awaited events of the year in the country, eagerly awaited by not only Indians but by travellers from abroad too. Being a beautiful blend of myriad cultures from Tibet, Central Asia and northern India, people from near and far come here to celebrate the colourful festival here.

What to expect during the Ladakh Festival?
Colours, happiness, music and a long list of delicious food! It will be hard for you to not fall for the colours and the fun ambience. You tend to dance along, when vibrant processions of cultural troupes from various parts of Ladakh pass through its narrow lanes and markets. These amazing processions feature local leaders, children from schools, and dancers performing to the traditional tunes.
Looking at the local men and women dressed in their traditional attire makes for a spectacular view. If you want to have some carnival-like experience, Ladakh is the best place to do so during the festival.

Highlights of the Ladakh Festival

In addition to the grand processions, some of the other prime features of the renowned Ladakh Fest are wild lion and yak dances, craft exhibitions, food and, of course, tasting the locally brewed barley beer, called Chang. The procession comes to halt at the polo ground in Leh, leading to folk music and dance performances, eventually turning into a music concert!
What is more interesting to watch here are the archery and polo competitions. Spectators turn up in big numbers to witness this fun competition every year.
