Heli-taxi service at Bangalore International Airport may not happen any time soon

The proposed heli-taxi service that was to begin about a month ago between HAL Bangalore International Airport and Kempegowda International Airport might not happen in near future.
It was last month only that the heli-taxi operator Thumby Aviation Pvt Ltd was all happy and cheerful about the entire thing, though things have gone haywire now. The founder of the service KNG Nair mentioned that the taxi fare would be higher for this route, owing to the various charges that had to be paid to HAL.

The founder also mentioned that there’s no rush in pre-bookings for the service from the airport. The heli-taxi which is capable of carrying six people each trip; does not make any economic sense as there is no demand on the route.While he has not specifically mentioned about the project being shelved, he commented that they were not in a position to give any specific time period about its launched
According to reports, the two heli-taxis running between Electronics City and KIA are getting positive response. Commenting on the issue, Gopal Sutar, a HAL spokesman and also the Chief of Media Communications, mentioned that before launching such services, a private operator needs to have clearance from the Director General of Civil Aviation. He also said that HAL airport will also need a NOC from Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) for running a commercial service.

However, Nair has ruled out all these facts and said they are already running taxi service from HAL for a long time now without any problem, and already have clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
