Election tourism is the new travel trend in India

Indian election 2019 is knocking on the door, and we are witnessing a surge in what is known as election tourism. According to reports, Gujarat tour operators have introduced this novel idea for foreign tourists who wish to witness events related to Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
Election tourism 2019 is an attempt to involve all interested parties, such as students studying in colleges and universities abroad, media professionals, youngsters, and researchers. It was first introduced in Gujarat way back during the Assembly polls of 2012. Interestingly, even in 2014 this initiative was made, and around 1,800 tourists had the opportunity to witness election related activities then.
The organisers are expecting the number of rise this year during the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The tourists were from Japan, UAE, and even from parts of Europe. According to reports they were taken to various parts of the state where they attended rallies and public meetings. The tours also include a trip to rural parts of the state in order to get a first-hand view of poll preparations there.

Reports also suggest that the Election Tourism tour have different packages to choose from. You can go for a six-day package that would cost you INR 40,000, or spend a whooping INR 1.50 lakh that would last two weeks. 20 tour operators would be conducting these guided tours, so you can take your pick according to your choice.
The touring doesn’t stop there, as you will also get a look into the cultural aspect of the state, with guided tours to explore heritage. Supposedly the tour operators have sent brochures to Indian ambassadors posted in various countries abroad, so that they can spread the word in those countries and increase the Election tourism footfall here in India.
