The French government has started easing lockdown restrictions and started reopening places of tourist interests gradually. This time, when the landmark tower reopens after months of lockdown, everything would be changed for the visitors. People visiting the Eiffel Tower from June 25 will need to wear face masks and shields (all over the age of 11) along with maintaining social distancing.
The website further says, “To ensure that ascending and descending visitors do not meet in the stairs, ascent will take place from the East pillar and descent by the West pillar.”
As of now, the top floor of the Eiffel Tower will remain shut and might open during the summer, mention the website. It is because the lifts from second to top floor are quite small and won’t be able to maintain a proper distance.
To ensure people’s safety, there would be markings done on the floor with everyday cleaning and disinfection of public spaces at the tower.
The tower is made using10-tonne metal and has come out from its longest closure. The countrustion work of the building was completed in the year 1889 and every year, more than seven million tourists visit the place.
The website also said, “The re-opening date of our online ticket office will be soon communicated.” On June 6, The Palace of Versaille also reopened to visitors and after Eiffel Tower, the renowned Louvre museum will also reopen on July 6.
As of now, France has reported 155000 Coronavirus positive cases and 29,296 deaths.
