Located approximately 10 nautical miles from Murudeshwar Temple, this island is rich in biodiversity. The heart-shaped island is also known as the Pigeon Island due to the presence of pigeons all over. In the waters, one would find a variety of coral, fish and other aquatic species. Some of the diving operators claim that there have been instances of orcas visiting the spot. Due to a recent navy jurisdiction and scuba diving accident, visitors to the spot will be unable to scuba dive. A rocky spot near the island was also used for target practice by the Indian navy, but due to the adverse impact on the ecology, the bombing has been stopped in this area. The ban, however, does not apply to snorkelling or a speedboat ride on these blue waters.
Diving operators also take travellers to the spot where they can see craters and empty bomb shells that are gradually getting a coat of rust. The water activities around this area are plenty and there are many operators who manage these water sports. The best time to visit this location is between October and January when the weather is amazing.
