Located at 401-403 on South Rampart Street, the Eagle Saloon, and Odd Fellows Hal is yet another interesting jazz site to visit. It is a massive grey 19th century square structure standing in a corner which is all boarded up now, but not difficult to imagine what it must have been like in its heyday. It was purportedly the favourite haunt of Jazz musicians, especially the early exponents. It is believed that many of the local legends including Buddy Bolden and Louis Armstrong could have played here. It is also believed that the Eagle Saloon was the inspiration for the renaming of the band that was started by Buddy Bolden.
