This village was an important transit milestone on the old silk route that traverses through eastern part of Sikkim finally culminating through Jelepla Pass in the Chumbi valley of China, Tibet. The village lies at an altitude of close to 10000 ft with harsh winters and wet summers accentuating the hardships of daily lives of people here. The majestic Himalayan monal occupies the pride of place in the higher strata of this region. There are plenty of homestays here and also in Gnathang valley which lies further 20 km away from Dzuluk at an altitude of close to 12000 feet. The Thambi view point offers panaromic views of Mount Kanchenjunga while the 32 hairpin turns on the way to Gnathang Valley gives a glimpse of the unique feat in cutting roads across mountains. The regular array of flowering plants decorating the façade of the homes is a usual sight in Sikkim and the big hairy mountain dogs guard those homes in their own characteristic nonchalant manner.
