Dzukou Valley is turning into a ‘plastic free zone’ on World Environment Day

Northeast India has some good news to offer. In a new move, the picturesque Dzukou Valley in Nagaland is all set to become a ‘plastic free zone’ on the World Environment Day.

As per the latest news reports, Advisor of Youth Resources & Sports Er Zale Neikha is scheduled to make this declaration official in this regard at Viswema Village at 10 AM on June 5.
The said event will see the participation of locals and those who have been working tirelessly during the past days to clear the plastic debris from all the areas of the iconic valley. This much-appreciated initiative to declare this scenic valley as a ‘plastic-free zone’ was taken by Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) in accordance with its pledge to conserve and protect the environment.

The SAYO had started the task of cleaning this area off plastics and compost waste materials last month, and the area is now almost unrecognised. South Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) President Vimeyol Theyo will also grace the event with his presence and urge people to adopt a plastic-free lifestyle and help maintain the pristine beauty of this place.
Also, SAYO President informed that to ensure people adhere to the strict rules of ‘plastic-free zone’ in Dzukou Valley, two entry points in southern Dzukou will be manned.
Situated on the border of Nagaland and Manipur, Dzukou Valley is a place that deserves a visit for sure. Very similar to the popular Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand, this valley boasts of being filled with every possible hue of rhododendron blooms during the months of May and June.

And now, with this new initiative of turning into a ‘plastic-free zone’, it definitely serves as an example for others to follow.
