Wroclaw, a city in Poland, has a square named after Mr Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a poet par excellence and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan's father, who shared the news on his social media account. He posted a photo, with the caption reading as “The City Council of the City of Wroclaw, Poland has decided to name a Square after my Father. There could not have been a more apt blessing on Dushhera than this. A moment of extreme pride for the family, for the Indian community in Wroclaw and India. Jai Hind (sic).” Read less
The love affair between Poland and the Bachchans is nothing new, for it goes way back. Earlier this year, in July, students of the University of Wroclaw paid tribute to Late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, by reciting a poem out of his celebrated work Madhushala. What makes Wroclaw's gesture a perfect tribute to his poetic legacy is the fact that the city has also been awarded as the UNESCO City of Literature.
Amitabh Bachchan shared his joy back then as well, commenting that “Last year the Mayor of Wroclaw declared me as the Ambassador of the City of Wroclaw, in Poland… Today they organised a recitation of my Babuji’s Madhushala by the University students on the roof of the University building.”T 3581 - At one of the oldest Churches in Europe , in Poland a prayer for Babuji .. so touched and such an emotional moment .. his soul must be at peace and love ..

A year before, he was also paid a tribute at Poland's Church of Peace and saw Amitabh Bachchan in attendance as well. The stunning church is one of the oldest ones in Europe, and dates back to 1652. Clearly, if you as starstruck with the Bachchans as the rest of India, Wroclaw is one name that needs to be on your bucket list as well.
