Drone travel alert: 5 countries where flying drones is banned!
With the boom of social media, drone shots are some of the most viewed videos, which has led to the craze of drones increasing day by day. Nowadays, many travellers travel with drones, so that they get the best of shots of the surroundings. However, one needs to note that drone laws vary significantly, and there is no uniform law across the world, making it important for travellers to understand the rules before taking their drones on international trips.
Some nations have strict regulations in place and might require permits, insurance, and operator IDs, while others have completely banned the use of drones, which means your drones may be confiscated at the entry point. If you don’t want to ruin your plans, read on to find out more.
Brunei
Brunei is another place in the list where drone use is banned. There are, however, exceptions for commercial operators, who need to require licences or permits to operate them. As for regular travellers or recreational users, drones are effectively banned, and any brought into the country will likely be seized at customs.
Bahrain
In Bahrain, obtaining special permission to fly a drone is particularly difficult, making the country essentially drone-free for most tourists. Drones brought into the country are at high risk of being confiscated upon entry. As per the reports, Bahrain is working on drafting new regulations, but it may take some time before these come into effect.
Bhutan
In Bhutan, the operation and importation of drones are strictly prohibited without prior approval from the Bhutanese Civil Aviation Authority. Foreigners, in particular, are likely to face significant penalties for violating these laws. The authorities take the ban seriously, and even attempting to bring a drone into Bhutan without the necessary permissions is a risky endeavour.
Marrakech, Morocco
Morocco has an outright ban on drones. While it is technically possible to get special permission for commercial drone use, the chances of success are very low, and trying to bring a drone into the country for personal use is ill-advised. Customs authorities are known to seize drones upon entry, leaving travellers without their equipment.
Antarctica
In Antarctica, which is a continent rather than a country, drones are completely banned. This rule has been put into place to protect the wildlife, and ensure that human activity, including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, does not disturb the delicate ecosystem.
