As per the latest reports, the promotional one-way trip between Guwahati and Dhaka will cost you around INR 3355.
Initially, Assam proposed that Guwahati be connected to six overseas tourist destinations, such as Kuala Lumpur, Yangon, Bangkok, Dhaka, Singapore, and Kathmandu. However, that plan was lost midway, when bids for only two routes were received. However, there are plans to start direct flight routes on the said routes too.
Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Pranjit Singha Roy said that flights between the northeastern states and other important cities of Bangladesh will promote and tourism. To begin with, while the first flight from Guwahati to Dhaka will start from July 1, whereas another direct flight to Bangkok will commence after August 15.
Work is in progress to upgrade the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, and also construct a new terminal to enable it to operate more international flights from there.
