Dhola Sadiya Bridge: All you need to know about India’s longest bridge over water

Dhola Sadiya Bridge, also known as the Bhupen Hazarika Setu, is a beauty you need to visit Assam for. Connecting the two states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the Dhola Sadiya Bridge is a 9.15 km beam bridge that goes over the Lohit River, one of the largest tributaries of the Brahmaputra River. The Dhola Sadiya Bridge is also India’s longest bridge over water.


How did it get the name? The bridge connects the villages of Dhola and Sadiya in Tinsukia district in Assam. From Sadiya, Arunachal state border is just a stone’s throw away. The bridge is also the first permanent road connecting north Assam and east Arunachal Pradesh.


The bridge gives a comfortable access to many places in Arunachal Pradesh including Anjaw, Changlang, Dibang Valley, East Kameng, East Siang to name a few.
