Delhi’s first-ever oxygen bar gives you fresh air to breathe

Delhi-NCR is reeling under pollution and it is all over the news. There have been days when the pollution level touched severe levels. In short, Delhi people are now desperate to breathe clean air. And, to deal with such a situation, Delhi got its first-ever oxygen bar, named Oxy Pure, in South Delhi’s Select City Walk Mall.

Founded by Aryavir Kumar and Margarita Kuritsyana, you can inhale 80 to 90 per cent pure oxygen for around 15 min, starting from INR 299. This unique oxygen bar was launched in May and customers can select from several aromas, which get infused with the oxygen that is odourless. The aromas available in this bar include lavender, eucalyptus, lemongrass, cherry, and more.
Referring to the idea behind opening such a bar in Delhi, its founder stated that he first saw such a bar in Los Angeles in 2015. When asked about his motivation behind opening this bar, he answered that he found this concept cool, and wanted to open something similar in India.

Soon, he will open such a bar at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3, and might also start a franchise of the bar in the near future.
Customers visiting Oxy Pure are given a tube (known as a cannula), which is strapped under their nostrils and gives them a whiff of oxygenated air, along with the fragrance of their choice, i.e., orange, peppermint, cinnamon, lavender, eucalyptus, spearmint or lemongrass. The air they inhale is generated by an ‘oxygen concentrating machine’, which purifies the air around it and then delivers it to them.
The machines that are used to generate oxygen at Oxy Pure, have been sourced from a US firm called Oxygen Bars, which create air with a 95 per cent level of the gas, Aryavir Kumar said. And because the tube is not tightly fixed tightly under the customer’s nose, the oxygen they breathe gets mixed with other atmospheric gases, eventually reaching a concentration between 30 per cent and 50 per cent.

The sessions are limited to only 15 min to minimise risk to the customer. Referring to this therapy, Kumar also added that it will not cure any diseases, and that It is purely for rejuvenation like a spa.
