Debjharan in Odisha is soon to become an ecotourism site

A beautiful waterfall destination, Debjharan, is soon going to be developed into an eco-tourism site. The waterfall is located about 30 km away from western Odisha’s Sambalpur. According to sources, the state has already given approval for the development of Debjharan. It has an estimated 94 lakh allotted for the cause, and is looking forward to create a potential ecotourism paradise.
If all goes well, development work should start very soon; it will be carried out by the Forest Department. Visitors will be pleased to know that there will be boating facility available at the Debjharan Reservoir. Also included is the plan to develop a nature’s trail here, a wonderful path that would lead to the waterfall, along with a floating jetty (dock), toilets for visitors, and a watch-tower. Visitors will also be able to purchase forest produce that would be sold here.
A Minor Irrigation Project (MIP) is underway currently at the Debjharan stream, and a reservoir was also developed at the spot. After the completion of the project, the forest department is keen to provide training for capacity building to Vana Samrakshana department members.

The waterfall destination is already known as a picnicking site, where thousands of tourists come every year, especially from November to January. Most tourists travelling to Odisha are in for beach attractions such as Puri; if you are in Puri, you can definitely make a trip to Debjharan from here. will take around five hours and thirty minutes to reach Debjharan from Puri by road.
