Maldives is all prepping up to make Christmas all the more colourful and exciting. A luxury resort in Maldives has come up with the first outdoor ice rink. So now, this tropical region will have some icy fun added too. Now skates might replace the snorkel fins and swim wears with the introduction of this ice rink. And the timing couldn’t have been better as Christmas is one of the best seasons when tourists visit Maldives in large numbers.
The ice rink will surely bring some winter wonderland to the tropical climate of Maldives. After taking a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean’s salt waters, travellers can colour their feet white in the dust of ice and enjoy some glamorous spin on ice skates in the outdoor rink. When it comes to technology, the rink uses a molecular technology which is developed by artificial ice plate company Glice. This technology works at a zero-energy level that too without water.


This ice rink has come as a beautiful Christmas surprise for Maldives, which normally has tropical climate most part of the year. However, it’s not the first time that any winter sport has found its way to a tropical destination. Dubai ski resort was the first one to entice people with its icy features back in the year 2005. Located inside the Mall of the Emirates, this artificial winter land is quite large, and attracts travellers and fun seekers from all across the globe.
