Himalayan tea tours

Tea tours in India have grown in popularity, so much so that they are sometimes compared to the wine tourism industry. Three of the most distinctive regions of the tea industry are the cool, moist Darjeeling (northeast) in the foothills of the Himalayans, the heavy rainfall region of Assam and the Brahmaputra River (far northeast), and the hilly, ‘Blue Mountain’ landscape region of Nilgiri (south). Plucking season begins in March for Darjeeling and Assam and lasts throughout summer months while the harvest season in Nilgiri continues throughout the year. During these tea tours, travellers visit factories, stay at tea bungalows, interact with tea workers, and pluck their own tea leaves all while exploring the breathtaking views.
