12 km of golden, fine sand, and azure waters, often backed with thick Mediterranean vegetation make Costa Rei one of the nicest beaches in Sardinia. It is located on the south east coast of the island, in the region known as Sarrabus, and is about 1 hour drive (without traffic) from Sardinia’s capital Cagliari. A favourite among locals and tourists, this beach can get crowded during peak season (but never unbearably so). The beach, which is free to access, has several kiosks selling meals, drinks and snacks. Visitors can rent umbrellas, sun beds, and organise daily trips to the nearby islands, rent kayaks, and practice other water sports. It is perfect for families with children. Other parts of the beach which don’t have as easy access are less crowded. There is even is a nude beach here.
