Coronavirus update: International tourist numbers at Indian airports reduced

The ongoing pandemic Coronavirus has started affecting India’s public transport system as well; the number of international passengers arriving at Indian airports are now at 62000 per day from 70000. The same was divulged by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
According to the reports, Puri said the number is expected to further reduce to around 40000 after the travel advisory thar was issued on Wednesday; it denied visa to people coming from Spain, Germany and France. A few more travel restrictions were also implemented with immediate effect on Wednesday after a meeting of high profile government officials in Delhi.
Meanwhile, India’s biggest airports in Delhi and Mumbai continued to remain considerably vacant. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has been witnessing one of the worst crisis of the decade. Owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the lounge areas and travelators of an otherwise very busy airport remained empty of passengers. This is quite a contrast to the days when passengers had to stand in queues for check-in and security screening for a long time.

Besides China, Italy as well as France and Germany, are some of the worst affected nations by Coronavirus.
