The saffron fields
Pampore's charm lies in its sprawling vibrant saffron fields. This is the place where famous and super expensive Kashmiri Saffron is cultivated. You know you have entered Pampore when an exquisite aroma and a distinct flavour engulfs your surroundings. The crimson-coloured saffron cultivated in Kashmir is counted among the globe’s finest and most expensive varieties. If you visit Pampore during the harvest season, you’ll be awed with the beauty of this place. The harvest season is from October to November. The process of picking saffron is quite intensive and laborious and that’s one of the reasons why it’s so expensive.
Partake in Saffron Festival
Every year, Pampore people celebrate saffron and host an annual Saffron Festival. It is a unique opportunity, wherein visitors can get involved in various activities, such as traditional saffron picking, interesting cultural performances and handicraft exhibitions. Saffron-infused dishes are also a huge pull.Historical significance
Besides saffron, Pampore has a rich historical background. The pretty historical landmarks here reflect the glorious past of the town. When here, do visit the ruins of Avantishwar Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Then, there is the historic Awantipora Archaeological Site in Pampore has remnants of two ancient Hindu temples, dating back to the 9th century.
