Huay Kaew Waterfall

There are plenty of waterfalls hidden in the hills of Chiang Mai but one of the easiest to get to for many travelers is Huay Kaew Waterfall located just off Huay Kaew Road before the Chiang Mai Zoo. Here you will find a high fall with areas to walk around and dip your feet in for a refreshing treat (there isn’t enough water to completely immerse yourself and go swimming). Considering there’s really not too much to do here, do what the locals do and bring in some food or buy some snacks at the food stalls you’ll see set up along the way before you reach the falls for a fun little picnic. Especially on the weekends, this – along with waterfalls across the country – is a popular spot to bring the family or a group of friends, splash in the water and get outdoors while still being protected from the hot Thai sun. To reach Huay Kaew Waterfall you can take a tuk tuk or songthaew to Chiang Mai zoo and walk the rest of the way in or, if you have your own wheels, drive and park at the base of the falls.
