Given its diverse and multifaceted landscape, Isle of Man is a walkers’ delight. The rugged clifftop, lovely plains and rolling hills make the island a paradise for people with a passion for outdoors. Whether you want to enjoy a quiet walk along the scenic countryside or you are in the mood for a challenging trek while exploring hidden coves and valleys on the way, the island has it all. There are plenty of guided walking tours available, including special events and groups like the Isle of Man Walking Festival and Manx Footpaths Conservation Group respectively. Depending on the length, location and level of difficulty, there are a number of specific tracks and paths including a coastal walk, riverside walk or even walks amidst beautiful glens and abandoned railway tracks. The guided walks are half-day, full-day or a short-day walk. In case you opt for self-guided walks, it is recommended that you go through the walking guide and have a map handy to make the experience safe and enjoyable. Nonetheless, make sure you have the right gear including boots, suitable clothing and support equipment such as walking poles before you embark on your journey!
