The town of Canmore is often referred to as Banff’s little sister, located closer to Calgary than Banff is but offering the same amount of activities and beauty, on a less touristy scale. Canmore is located in the heart of Kananaskis and features some of the most beautiful and breathtaking hikes in all of Alberta. What makes the Kananaskis mountain range so appealing to people is that many of the hikes here can be done even if you have no experience. During the summer season, people from all over flock here for activities such as canoeing, kayaking, SUP, caving, mountain biking, golfing and more. Wintertime brings the opportunity for skiing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, snowboarder and inside sports. As well, Canmore boasts the Nordic Centre, the host centre for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. Accommodations range from hotels to bed and breakfasts to vacation homes and luxury suites. Make sure to dine at places like Table and Food, The Drake Pub, The Iron Goat and Wild Orchid Bistro. Head on over to the Grizzly Paw Brewery Company Restaurant where the patio is heated all year rounds, smores are cooked over the firepit and craft breweries fill the taps.
