Cesky Krumlov

Cesky Krumlov could easily be the miniature version of Prague. It is a Bohemian wonder and its emblematic castle, a spectacularly gigantic wonder, is a seductress of sorts, attracting tourists from all over the globe. This could explain why it is the busiest town in the Czech Republic, after the capital of course. It is also home to an elaborate Baroque Theatre and Pivovar Eggenberg brewery which served as a filming location for a few Hollywood titles. The modest city has always been appreciative of art considering how it hosts numerous festivals with its International Music Festival being the most popular.
The communist period proved to be unfortunate for this elegant city and the architecture was in a constant state of decline. However, due to some brilliant restoration efforts, the fairy tale charm and glamour has been reinstated. The many heritage structures are now home to boutique hotels and fancy restaurants and the town square is dotted with endearing street artists. This Old Town Square also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Winters in Cesky Krumlov can be like a reverie with the castle and the quaint streets being enveloped in thick layers of snow. You might just have become a part of Disney’s ‘Frozen’, you never know!

The city is also the closest to Sumava National Park, Czech Republic’s biggest national park. If you like being in the lap of nature, a short visit is imperative. If you revel in doing nothing, the old-world appeal of Cesky Krumlov is waiting to welcome you. It really is a Bohemian Rhapsody.
